My Craft Room

As much as I adore watching videos by Jennifer Mcguire and Michelle at The Card Grotto
I'm no good at it and hate my voice on tape so it'll have to be photos and a write up
so here goes and if you have any questions please get in touch.

Until recently this room was our smallest bedroom and really only just big enough for a single bed
or for a study or cot room so I was quite happy to take it over!

My desk is a piece of kitchen worktop which covers the width of the room and the
white drawers at either side are recycled from our bedroom which has just been upgraded.
There's still plenty of wear in these!

This picture shows the left area of the desk where I tend to sit and craft mostly.

This is the area to the right where I keep my card stock, stamps, inks,
my guillotine and I use my big shot here too.

It then doubles up as my photography area which is proving ok at the moment.
Will have to see when the dark nights come how it works.
I do have a separate photo tent and other lights if needed.

I keep my stash of clear stamps in the DVD cases above the light on this photo.
The wall-mounted wooden boxes are from IKEA and recycled from the other wall
in the room where they were over a bed.
You'll see I'm either going to need more boxes or curb my spending on stamps quite soon!

Behind my desk I have 2 bookcases from IKEA.
One is a Benno which has been recycled from my daughters room
and the other is a Billy which I've just bought.

I've still to fill some of these shelves but it won't take long!
and I'm thrilled that my Big Shot fits perfectly in one of the slots.
Plus the wooden drawers at the base of each one which are also IKEA.
I've had these forever for storing cardstock, paper, spare inks, punches etc
Above them on the right I have ring-binders which I keep swatches of
my ink colours, A4 design papers, vellum (well anything A4 sized)
On the right I've 2 faux-leather boxes of my finished cards.

At the moment the other boxes are either empty or have my wood-mounted stamps
which I hardly use but can't bring myself to throw them out.

So onto my desk and I have 3 of these faux leather mini sets of drawers from Rymans.
They are the perfect size for holding my collection of ink pads as I only tend to buy
the mini-sized or dewdrop ones due to cost and storage.

They also fit my Promarkers perfectly too.
Again I don't have that many because I'm not keen on colouring!

The other set of drawers which is in the far left of my desk is from
Poundstretcher. I think it was £12 and it's perfect for holding envelopes,
gems, embellishments, tapes, and foam pads. I also keep my non-patterned
snippets in individual colour-coded CD wallets in one of these drawers.

I keep another of these sets of drawers under my desk with my various bakers twine,
cords and surplus stocks of tapes and gems.

This white handy caddy sits right in front of me when I'm working;
it's from Ebay and it works perfect for holding all those
tools, glues, pens, brushes etc that we need to hand all the time.
The drawers hold my acrylic blocks, washi tape and odds/ends

My friend's husband does wood turning as a hobby so he made me the kitchen roll holder and
a string holder next to it but it fits my foam tape and glue dots brilliantly!
The bright PINK box is my desk bin and I've a faux leather one underneath the desk
for when it overflows!

Ok if you are still with me I've a couple of drawers to show you which are under the left of my desk

The top one has my smaller Tonic guillotine, We R Memories Envelope folder,
wet wipes and painter tape plus any other bits and bobs I need handy.

In the gap between my desk and the drawers there's just room for a couple of self-heal craft mats

In the middle drawer I keep my card blanks (which I tend to cut and fold in bulk)
and a box of my favourite and most used design papers.
There's also some stencils too.

In the bottom drawer I store all my dies.
The Clearly Besotted ones (I have most of) are in the box
at the front and I store each set in it's own CD wallet.
I use Magnetic card in the wallet too to keep them in place plus any extra
die-cuts or negatives to use as masks.

Ok the drawers under my desk at the right hold:

My heat gun, embossing powders and inks plus the extra shims and
cutting mats for my big shot.
Again there's a sneaky little space for my Hougie board and a big T-square
ruler beneath the desk and on top of the drawers.

The middle drawer has more envelopes, my less used design papers
and my watercolour paint equipment.

The pink folder on the floor which is a concertina type holds more snippets.

And last but not least ... just inside the door is a  plastic wheeled set of drawers
which has been in the room forever. I think I must have bought it for my daughter
when she was about 2 from Next and she's 16 now.
It's a little tired and unstable but couldn't part with it especially as
it matches the lilac colour-scheme of the room

On top is a caddy of buttons and embellishments.
In the first drawer I keep my sequins, nailheads,
brads and eyelets
plus my Kandi-cane and eyelet setter.

The second drawer houses loads of paper, prima, mulberry
flowers and embellishments that I rarely use but you know how it is ...
love to hoard! They are in boxes from my husband's business cards
(he gets through a few! or I make him but them in a sandwich bag
so I can have the boxes! Haha ... just kidding)

The other 2 drawers have stacks of ribbons and unused stuff.
The ribbons I use mainly are in Mason's Jars from IKEA which
you can see in the first picture.

Ok that's it. I hope you've enjoyed a snoop around my craft space
and please feel free to ask questions if I've missed anything.

  2. Hi Sarah, love your new craft room, I was a little disappointed to see that the white drawer/caddy that you have on your desk was from ebay as I quite like the look of it! I also like your ink pad storage, you're like me as I tend to go for the mini size inks, it means you can have lots more that way! Thanks for the sneaky peek, I keep meaning to do an updated tour or my room but I just haven't got round to it (which is ridiculous really as I've just had 6 weeks holidays). Rebecca x
