Less is More - Challenge #389

Hey there friends

As you are no doubt aware the
Less is More challenge is celebrating this month with it's ...

... and I'm delighted to be here as Guest Designer for the second challenge of the month, despite it being my least favourite style - ONE Layer cards!!!! Yep THAT one! Anyway it's a fairly easy theme so I'm happy to play along with my superb friends at Less is More and here's the Cue Card

This challenge is sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays and I have to admit I only own Christmas stamps from this company so decided to use this festive sentiment with a rainbow effect! Who says we can't have a Christmas rainbow!!!

That's all from me but I'm in no doubt that there'll be plenty more inspiration from the regular Design Team so why not head over to the blog HERE to check them out too.

Huge thanks to my fellow ex-teamies from Less is More for inviting me to join the celebrations this month and here's to the next 8 years!!!! BIG HUGS!

Less is More #388 - 8th Birthday

Hey there friends

It's BIRTHDAY time ... YIPPEE and I'm delighted and highly honoured to have been invited back to my favourite Challenge blog; Less is More, of course, as a Guest Designer this month in celebration of this fabulous birthday!

Congratulations Girls and here's to the next one!

It's COLOUR challenge time and the girls have chosen a really fun combo which I love

... and I've 2 cards to share with you; first up a silly fishy one using Briny Blue by Paper Smooches, a stencil from Uniko (Wonky Stripes) and a mish-mash of sentiments from the Briny Blue set and some Uniko sentiment stamps. I couldn't resist a couple of googlie eyes too and as the card is for my sister, who celebrates her birthday tomorrow - how about some superb lashes to those eyes!!

Next up, this one uses images and sentiments by Uniko, which is sponsoring the challenge. I've used the pre-Christmas released Pure Florals: Peony set, initially heat embossed in white powder on to the Navy cardstock before re-stamping in a no-line colouring effect. The bloom is coloured with promarkers then with some added detail using Polychromo pencils.

Ok that's all from me but I'm' in no doubt that there'll be plenty more inspiration from the regular Design Team as well as some other ex-DT members. Why not head over to the blog HERE to check them out too.

Thanks as always for calling by and thanks for inviting me to join your birthday party girls!

Less is More #385

Hello my crafty friends, it's time to announce our latest challenge at Less is More - it's actually the last challenge of 2018 as we're taking a break through December. On a personal note I'm feeling quite emotional about this one as I'll be stepping down from the Design Team after this challenge. Sadly lack of time in recent months has meant that I haven't been able to fully commit to the challenge blog hence my decision.

I've definitely had an absolute blast though and enjoyed every minute on this Design Team. I've also made some awesome friends here and hope they'll remain life-long buddies. Thanks to all of my fellow teamies at Less is More for being fun and fabulous and I wish you every success and hope Less is More goes from strength to strength - see you in Blogland!

So back to the challenge; and here's the cue card to get you started

You'll find all the details on the main challenge blog HERE as well as links to the fantastic inspiration from the rest of the Design Team  as well as Katrina of Katrina's Crafting Blog, winner of our September challenges who is Guest Designing for this one.

I'm sure you'll love this challenge despite it being that dreaded ONE LAYER week! The theme is holiday, so simple and adaptable for creating lots of occasions as well as a few extra Christmas cards, as I've done!

Both cards use images from Uniko with the first one using the recently released Background Builders: Christmas 2018 as well as some older sentiments. The fairy lights are coloured with Promarkers and sparkled with a Tonic Shimmer Pen and Glossy Accents.

This one uses some older images; Rustic Christmas, Background Blocks - Horizontal Stripes and Simply Said Christmas. I've also added some delicate crystal gems to the tree for added sparkle and interest.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month.

I hope you'll feel inspired to play along with us and have a little crafty fun. Thanks for calling by my blog today and I'd like to thank all the many supporters of the Less is More Challenge - we couldn't do it without you and I hope you'll continue to enjoy the challenges ahead.

Less is More #384

Hello my crafty friends,

Firstly apologies for my absence at Less is More but sadly life has become extremely busy in the last 6 months and due to lack of time and mojo I've been struggling to take part in DT work and challenges of any sort, hence my recent break from the Design Team.

Unfortunately, despite the break I've still found it difficult to get back into crafting and I have made the tough decision to step down from the Less is More Design Team following this month's challenges.

I'm thrilled that fellow teamie Sharon has agreed to take on the task of running the challenge and I will be forever grateful to her and the rest of the team, of course, for continuing with Less is More. I'd also like to thank everyone who has supported and entered the challenge. I have enjoyed every week of the 4 years on the team and made lots of wonderful crafty friends in that time.

So let's get down to the serious business of announcing this week's challenge which is a COLOUR one and here's the cue card to get you started

I've 2 cards to share with you and for this one I used a sentiment from Happy Little Stampers from a retired Christmas sentiments set and I found this die-cut nativity scene in my stash, conveniently die-cut using silver mirror card which I decided would work perfectly for this colour challenge.

Secondly, a string of silver snowflakes using a die from the Works with a 'Merry Christmas' sentiment die from CAS-ual Fridays against an ink blended background.

All the details are on the main challenge blog HERE along with links to my fellow teamies and their fantastic designs to inspire you and as mentioned above, our sponsor for this month is Happy Little Stampers.

I hope you'll feel inspired to play along with and have some crafty fun along the way.

Thanks for calling by today and catch up soon.

Less is More #374

Hello my crafty friends, it's time to announce our latest challenge at Less is More but before that I have some news to share: this will be my last post for the Less is More design team; for a while anyway.

I've decided it's time to take a break from the challenge - it's been 4 brilliant years and I've met lots of wonderful like-minded folk during that time, many of whom will remain life-long friends (I hope!). Unfortunately it's got to the point where I'm finding creating for the challenges more of a chore and less of the fun, hence my decision.

I've been overwhelmed by the support from my fellow teamies and I'm delighted to hand the Less is More reins to Sharon, who has kindly agreed to stand in for as long as it takes.

So let's get down to announcing this latest challenge, sponsored by Uniko and I'm using some their products in my cards below. It's our recipe challenge week and all the details you need are on the main challenge blog HERE

It's called 'Item from your 'bits' box and don't we all hoard loads of things in our bits boxes!!! Here's the cue card, which we'd love to see in your post, followed by my cards.

This was a great opportunity to have a good old sort out in my bits boxes. Yes I've more than one - they're little but some have sentiments, some have die-cut shapes, some have off-cuts of patterned paper and part made cards. Every now and again I like to go through them and chuck out some of it as I'll never use everything.

The other bonus in doing this was I found stuff I'd completely forgotten about so I hope you enjoy your adventure into your boxes of bits n pieces and I can't wait to see the results!

The only thing NOT in my bits box on this card is the sentiment strip, only because I didn't have one already in a coordinating colour. I must have created this background some time ago when I was featuring this background block of doodle flowers from Uniko. It's heat embossed with a pearl embossing powder then blended over the top with Distress Inks. I found the balloons already coloured and miraculously they match the background, the pieces of twine were also in a bits box as well as the strip of purple patterned paper. I rather like this card and think I may have to play more often with items from my bits box!

Other than the sentiment and pearls everything else was in the bits box for this card. Uniko products again with a trio of rose buds, watercoloured with Distress Inks from the Pure Florals Rose set (left overs from release week), a doily which I'd completely forgotten about and was left over from a previous goody bag from the HISTK girls, a strip of design paper and the negative inner space of a die-cut scalloped circle, which is sitting on top of the doily!

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies  over on the Less is More blog HERE and do play along for a chance to win our sponsor prize this month, from Uniko

Uniko

I hope you'll feel inspired to play along with us and have some crafty fun along the way.

Thanks for all your visits and although I'll be missing from the Less is More line-up from now on, I'll hopefully catch you around blogland in the weeks ahead.

Less is More #373

Well hello my crafty friends, I cannot believe that it's almost a month since I posted something on my blog and I feel totally 'out of it'.

May was a really crazy-hectic month for me work-wise but compensated with a very much deserved treat at the end of the month - a week in Portugal. I'm still trying to re-adjust to life back home, having been spoilt rotten in the sun.

Fellow team buddy, Sharon, may beg to differ on the 'sun' as she lives out there and seemed to think the weather was a disgrace!!!  It was an absolute delight to meet up with her and her hubby for an afternoon of chit-chat over drinks and ice-cream!

Anyway enough reminiscing and back to the reality of announcing our latest challenge at Less is More which is all about friends! Why not? They are so special and particularly those who share this beautiful hobby and keep boosting our confidence whenever the mojo has gone AWOL!

All the challenge details are on the main challenge blog HERE but here's the Cue Card followed by my cards.

Our sponsor for this month is Uniko and my first card feature some of their products and Bev (owner/designer) is joining us as a Guest Designer for this challenge too.

... using the new Chrysanthemum stencil, inked with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon, followed by a camouflage die-cut 'friend' sentiment from Paper Smooches, which is  mounted on 3 layers of teal cardstock to add a little definition and dimension. The sentiment is from the Pure Florals Cosmos set.

next up ... and a little 'note to self' here - DO NOT try to be inspired by Jennifer McGuire after a month away from the craft room!!!! LOL! Did anyone else watch THIS

Well it took me much longer to create my card than dear JM and still I couldn't get the die to partially cut!!! It's a rose die-cut from Memory Box, mounted on 4 layers of white cardstock with a (previously prepared) brusho panel behind and a strip of glitter tape to 'hide' the mess of the failed partial die-cut!

I'm not sure what company the 'friend' die-cut is from and to be honest I was just grabbing anything from my 'scraps' box to get this card finished at that point! The 'You are Awesome' is an Altenew sentiment from the Painted Butterfly set.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies over on the Less is More blog HERE and please do visit them as they have definitely worked magic with the challenge!

As mentioned above our sponsor for this challenge is Uniko so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month.

Less is More #371

Hello my crafty friends, it's time to announce our latest challenge at Less is More and it's our COLOUR challenge for the next fortnight.

All the details are on the main challenge blog HERE so onto the challenge itself and here's our cue card followed my cards.

I've 2 cards to share with you today, which both use the It's a Wonderful Pennant set by Winnie and Walter (our brand new sponsor for this month). I think it's supposed to be a Christmas Tree set if used as expected but I decided to 'think outside the box' and made little party/clown hats with pom-poms on top for the first one with a sentiment by Uniko.

This one uses the same set but just one of the 'Christmas tree' images to create a geometric pattern. The sentiment is also by Winnie and Walter from the 'Big and Bold You' set. I coloured 2 strips of card with Promarkers in coordinating shades of yellow and blue for a little extra detail to the card.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies  over on the Less is More blog HERE and as mentioned above our sponsor for this challenge is Winnie and Walter so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce next month.

I hope you'll feel inspired to play along with and have some crafty fun along the way.

If you happen to be at the Happy Stampers Festival at Port Sunlight today then do pop along to say 'Hi' as I'm helping out on the Uniko stand with a few of the Design Team. It's a great day out and I love to see all those happy crafty folks who share this hobby.

I'll also be back with another post in an hour (Mr Blogger dependent as he's on scheduling duty today) with the BIG reveal, release and GIVEAWAY of this month's new goodies from Uniko

Thanks for calling by today and catch up soon!

Less is More #370

Hello my crafty friends, it's Sketch Time over at Less is More for the next fortnight and we can't wait to see what you do with this one! All the details are on the main challenge blog HERE but here's the cue card followed by the Sketch and my examples.

If you've followed my blog recently you'll notice I've become a little 'hooked' on stencils, especially in this colour combo of Distress Oxides: Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet and Cracked Pistachio. I've used the Concentric Circles Stencil from MFT with a little masking around the circles and to finish a popped up sentiment from our sponsor; Happy Little Stampers.

It's a clean and simple week over at Addicted to Stamps and More so I'd like to head across there with this one AND as I'm 'WILD' about stencils right now and that's the theme of the current challenge at Timeout Challenges I'd like to add this card there too.

... and another MFT stencil below! This time the Rose Builder, again inked with Distress Oxides in Worn Lipstick and Candied Apple plus Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover. I must apologise I can't remember where the sentiment is from! It's from my bits box from one of those days when I'd heat embossed too many sentiments!

Over at Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge it's their Anything Goes week so I'll pop this card in there.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies  over on the Less is More blog HERE and our sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month.

Less is More #369

Hello my crafty friends, it's time to announce our latest challenge at Less is More and we're stepping back in time with what's required for this one! All the details are on the main challenge blog HERE and here's our cue card.

You might decide to use a technique or stamp set that's not seen the light of day in a while or an additional element/embellishment that's perhaps no longer deemed 'fashionable' in crafting circles at the moment.

Unbelievably I've 3 cards to share with you today ... having had a 2 week Easter break I had a little extra time to craft. These first 2 use handmade paper / mulberry paper I think it was called although this one is a thicker variety than others.

For the first card I used a Columbus scalloped circle die from Mama Elephant to create a frame for the handmade paper. I stamped the sentiment from WPlus9 around the circle and mounted the 'wonderful' die-cut sentiment on foam to hide the balloon string. The balloon is from the Happy Little Stampers set 'Simply Said' and it's coloured using Promarkers.

This one uses a glittery embossed handmade / mulberry paper which I've adhered to some teal cardstock then used a die-cut 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from Impression Obsessions

Last but not least I have to admit that I own hundreds of these papery flowers in my stash; all different shapes, sizes and colours and I simply couldn't resist using them along with 2 mini sparkly brads in the centre (another of those no-longer-fashionable craft items).

I used some of the foliage stamps from Altenew Vintage Flowers to create a backdrop for the paper blooms but I'm not sure it's working for me! The sentiment is by Happy Little Stampers, our sponsor this month at Less is More.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies  over on the Less is More blog HERE and as I mentioned earlier, our sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month.

Less is More #368

Hello my crafty friends, wishing you all a very Happy Easter Weekend and hope the Easter bunny delivers!

I can't believe yet another fortnight has skipped by and I'm here with our latest challenge    over at Less is More. It's a Lucky Dip month as there are 5 Saturdays in the month so to spice things up a little we decided to ask Aileen of Colour & Sparkle, winner of the January challenges if she'd like to provide a CASE card for us! Thankfully she agreed!

Here's our Cue Card for this fortnight's challenge, followed by Aileen's elegant floral beauty then my interpretation!

Aileen's Card

For my card I used my favourite stamp set EVER from Happy Little Stampers 'Butterfly Birthday' along with a die-cut 'Happy' word die from STAMPlorations. I flipped the layout to portrait for this one, stamped and heat-embossed my Butterflies in Sterling Silver embossing powder before colouring with Promarkers.

I'd like to pop this card in a couple of challenges:
Happy Little Stampers - Anything Goes with their products

I'm also sharing a little DT Inspiration over on the Uniko blog HERE so here's a sneaky peak of my card, again using Aileen's card as my CASE study with stamps from Uniko.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies over on the main blog HERE and we're delighted to welcome back Happy Little Stampers which has kindly agreed to sponsor our challenges through April.  Do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month and have a fun and crafty time.
